Upanishad Ganga Wins 3 Awards; Now on DVD with English Subtitles

Upanishad Ganga, the Hindi television series produced by Central Chinmaya Mission Trust, aired for two consecutive years on India's DoorDarshan channel on Sunday mornings. All the episodes are now available in three DVD sets with English subtitles and various special features (mantras, commentaries on various aspects, reference materials, etc.). This is an extraordinary spiritual and cultural treasure for every home and every generation. Order now for only $50/set.

Upanishad Ganga, the first-of-its-kind television serial, won three Indian Telly Awards on May 3, 2013 at the 12th Annual Indian Telly Awards in Mumbai, India. It was nominated for eight awards and won three:

1. Best actor in supporting role: Late Dwaraka Prasad in "Magh"
2. Best edu-tainment/science/knowledge show
3. Best dialogue writer: Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi (Winner)
4. Best videography: Sanjeev Srivastav
5. Best packaging: Hari Sudhakar
6. Best music director: Amod Bhat (Winner)
7. Best choreographer: Bushan Lakandri (Winner)
8. Best historical/mythological serial (online award)

The impact of televised media is tremendous, as seen by the success of the TV serials on Ramayana and Mahabharata. The theme of the Upanishads, however, is unique and has never been telecast as a serial to date. Chinmaya Mission conceived, developed, and produced this herculean project under its Chinmaya Creations banner. Conceived and inspired by His Holiness Swami Tejomayananda, Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide 1993-2017, the series has received high acclaim from viewers worldwide.

Upanishad Ganga is dedicated to Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, who began his spiritual work with teachings on the Upanishads. Each 30-minute episode explains main Upanishadic concepts through a captivating story presented in a blend of drama, music, and/or dance. Each episode depicts teachings with practical implications in daily life, inspiring inner transformation for all viewers, layman or scholar.

The series promotes the Upanishadic message that “All problems are due to lack of right thinking. Human life is rare and precious. Its main purpose is to inquire into and realize the supreme Truth, which is the support of this world and the Self of all beings. This Realization can be gained through purity of mind and the Upanishadic wisdom learned from an enlightened Master. The realized Master ever remains engaged in the welfare of all beings.”

Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi (of 'Chanayka' and 'Pinjar' fame) directed the series. A core team of Chinmaya Mission acharyas and scholars researched and conceptualized each episode. Upanishad Ganga will also be available with dubbing in various regional languages.

Chinmaya Naada Bindu: Gurukul for Indian Performing Arts

Chinmaya Naada Bindu (CNB) is one of Central Chinmaya Mission Trust’s (CCMT's) most enterprising and visionary ventures. Its conception was based on the same premises as of Chinmaya Mission’s many educational institutes for Vedantic studies, academics, nursing, and management.

Situated on the Chinmaya Vibhooti site in Kolwan, near Pune, India, Chinmaya Naada Bindu, a residential school of Indian classical music and dance, welcomes students from all over the world and has world-renowned visiting faculty. Its focus on vocal music, instrumental music, and classical Indian dance forms, and its notable music festivals and workshops have been lauded globally. CNB is an ideal place of inspiration for musicians and music lovers to follow in the music traditions and lineage of a guru-shishya parampara.
